Autocad

Control Systems Design

AutoCAD® Electrical is our primary controls and fluid power computer aided design package. Our Control System Design team is responsible for:
  • The generation of the electrical and pneumatic circuits design packs and selection of suitable component parts
  • Conducting design review meetings and achieving design approval
  • Ensuring any risks identified by the risk assessment are designed out
  • Ensuring the design is suitable for CE Approval
  • Generating the supporting documentation pack which typically includes electrical circuit diagrams, pneumatic and hydraulic circuit diagrams, back plate layout diagrams, operator interface layout diagrams, parts listings, operating instructions and recommended spares list
A hard copy and electronic version of the finished design pack will be provided. Further PDF copies can be accessed via a secure customer log in area within Workflow.

Software

Software

We have the experience and the necessary software tools to support the four principle PLC types; Omron Electronics, Mitsubishi Electric, Rockwell/Allen Bradley and Siemens. We also have experience of various PC based solutions which are typically used for SCADA type applications or where it is necessary to store a large amount of data. Our software team is responsible for:
  • The generation of the PLC/HMI/PC software to the agreed specification, suitably commented and documented
  • The commissioning of any sophisticated hardware (specialist drives, vision equipment etc.)
  • Uploading the software to the equipment and commissioning to a sequential state
  • Generating the equipment operating instructions

Workflow MS Projects

Project Management

We use a combination of our in-house Workflow process software and Microsoft Project Management. Once an order is placed, key milestones will be set up within Workflow. These are typically:
  • Design
  • Procurement
  • Assembly/Commissioning
  • Condition & Sign off
  • Shipment and Install
Customers are given secure logins and these key milestones can then be monitored online. You can also access a more detailed Microsoft Project time plan document.

Panel Build

Panel Build

The Panel Build team is responsible for:
  • The mechanical layout of the control panels
  • The wiring of the panels in accordance with the design pack
  • Powering up the panel and undertaking a bench test
  • Generating the sign off electrical check sheets
During the assembly stage of the project, the build documentation acts as the ‘Master Set’ and the team marks any agreed changes or revisions onto the drawings. On completion of the build, the documentation set is passed back to the design office for the updates to be formally recorded before the final documentation is released.

Training

Training

Training is generally undertaken at our factory during the equipment sign off trials. Follow up training will be conducted at the customer’s site once the installation is complete. A more detailed training programme can be organised upon request.

Integration

Integration

We can also install the control panels onto your equipment and undertake the integration wiring. The Panel Build team would be responsible for:
  • The installation of the control panel onto the machine/equipment
  • The integration wiring
  • Powering up the machine, undertaking an IO check and checking the emergency stop network is valid
  • Generating the sign off electrical checks and making the machine/equipment ready for the software install
